Following on from National Apprenticeship Week we thought we’d introduce Kyle, he’s one of our Apprentices at Abbey & Lyndon

Kyle combines learning at Heart of Worcestershire College in Redditch with on-site experience, so he can develop an equal mix of technical and practical skills.

He’s a great addition to the team and we thought it would be good to get to know him a little more and have asked him the following questions:-

How did you find out about the Apprenticeship Programme at Abbey & Lyndon ?
A friend of mine told me about the opportunity, which was brilliant!

When did you start working at Abbey & Lyndon?
5th Sept 2018

Before working at Abbey & Lyndon, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I worked in Tree Surgery.

Detail what an average day in the life of an Apprentice is like at Abbey & Lyndon.
Everyday is different which is what I love. It’s a great place to work, with a great bunch of people, but most importantly I’m gaining experience along the way.

What key skills have you developed so far in your role?
I have learnt many different things since I joined the company, the main skill being carpentry, but I’m also enjoying learning the ins and outs of the building trade. I’ve also enjoyed being part of a team.

What advice would you give someone wanting to start on the same career path?
My advice would be to listen and learn, practical skills play a major part, but listening is even better.

How would you describe yourself as an individual?
Very confident, team worker and punctual.

What qualifications are you aiming to achieve?
I’m hoping to become a fully qualified carpenter and gain a NVQ Level 3 at the end of my course.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the daily challenges the job provides as there’s always something new to learn.
